Highway spine
The main road between the highlands and the coast runs straight through Samara. The whole town is organised around it, and it forms the strongest line on the print.

关于地图
Samara Map Poster & Print
Samara is the administrative capital of Ethiopia's Afar Region. It was built as a new town on the main highway that links the central highlands with the Red Sea ports. Unlike older settlements, it was planned from the start, and on a map that shows up in its regular blocks and straight streets.
The town lies in the hot, low country of the Awash valley. Around it is dry plain and scrubland, with the Awash River not far away. The highway runs through as the dominant line, and the town's streets spread out on either side of it in an orderly pattern.
A Samara map poster reads like a plan drawing: a clear spine, a disciplined grid and a lot of open ground around them. It is a fitting portrait of a young town that took over the regional capital role from older Asaita, and it has an unusual, almost architectural clarity.

Planned grid
Samara was laid out as a new administrative centre, so its streets form a regular pattern rarely seen in older Ethiopian towns.
Awash lowlands
The town sits in the dry, low country of the Awash valley. The surrounding desert plain appears as broad open space around the grid.

为什么选Samara
一张有意义的地图
This map suits people who work in the Afar Region, those who helped build the town or anyone who likes the logic of planned cities. The clear grid gives it a graphic, almost diagrammatic quality.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with the year you arrived or a project name. Blueprint underlines the planned character. Classic black & white, Noir, Paper and Sand are the other options.
