Dense bazaar core
At the centre, narrow lanes pack closely together around the markets. They form the darkest and most intricate part of the drawing.

关于地图
Samrāla Map Poster & Print
Samrāla is a town in the Ludhiana district of Punjab. It sits on the route between Ludhiana and Chandigarh. The land around it is the flat, intensively farmed plain that has made Punjab one of India's main grain-producing regions. On a map, the town is a dense cluster of streets surrounded by rectangular field boundaries and village roads running nearly straight across open ground.
The older core is a tight tangle of lanes around its bazaars. Newer housing and institutions spread outward along the main roads in a looser pattern. Irrigation channels and minor roads cut through the countryside at regular intervals, and small villages appear as separate knots of lines. The contrast between the busy centre and the geometric farmland around it is what gives the map its structure.
A Samrāla map poster shows that relationship in simple black and white. The town is the anchor and the plain is the setting. Roads leave the centre like spokes and fade into the field grid toward the neighbouring towns. It is a portrait of an agricultural market town, drawn at the scale of the surrounding land.

Arterial roads
Main roads run out almost straight toward Ludhiana and Chandigarh. They give the composition clear directional lines that cross the flat landscape.
Field-grid countryside
Village tracks and irrigation channels divide the surrounding plain into long, regular plots. The result is a quiet geometric texture around the town.
