关于地图
Sasaguri Map Poster & Print
Sasaguri lies east of Fukuoka City, in a valley surrounded by wooded hills. It is best known for the Sasaguri pilgrimage, a circuit of eighty-eight sacred sites modelled on the famous Shikoku pilgrimage, scattered along paths through the town and the forested slopes around it. Among its temples, Nanzoin is well known for its very large bronze reclining Buddha.
From above, the town follows the valley floor, with a railway line and main road running through it and residential streets filling the flatter ground. On both sides, forested hills rise sharply, and the pilgrimage paths, temples and shrines are spread across these slopes. The contrast between the built-up valley and the green hills gives the map a clear structure.
A Sasaguri map poster captures the town's linear shape along the valley and the network of lanes and paths reaching into the hills. In black and white, the empty space of the forest frames the streets, giving the composition a calm, balanced feel. It suits pilgrims, visitors and residents who know the town's quieter side.

Pilgrimage paths
Lanes and footpaths climb into the hills to link the sites of the Sasaguri pilgrimage, creating a network that reaches far beyond the town centre.
Forested slopes
Wooded hills surround the valley on both sides, appearing on the map as large open areas that frame the built-up streets.
