Trans-Siberian line
The railway cuts through the town as a long, straight band. It is the strongest line on the poster, and nearly every street takes its direction from it.

关于地图
Shimanovsk Map Poster & Print
Shimanovsk is a small town in Amur Oblast, in Russia's Far East, built around a station on the Trans-Siberian Railway. On the map the railway is the defining feature: a long, straight corridor with the town's streets set out on both sides in a regular grid. The station area sits roughly at the centre of the composition, and most things are measured from it.
Beyond the grid, the land opens into the forested hills and river valleys typical of the upper Amur region. Small rivers wind past the edges of town, and roads lead out to villages and farmland. The contrast is sharp: tight rectangular blocks beside the tracks, then the looser lines of streams and forest roads beyond them.
Like many settlements along this stretch of line, Shimanovsk grew up with the railway in the early twentieth century and still depends on it. Winters are long and severe here, and summers short. A Shimanovsk map poster shows how completely the town is organised around the tracks, a clear portrait of a railway settlement in the taiga.

Grid beside the tracks
Residential streets are laid out in a regular grid parallel to the railway. The neat pattern of blocks prints clearly in fine black lines.
Rivers and forest
Small rivers and forest roads wind through the land around the town, giving the edges of the map a looser, more natural texture than the centre.

为什么选Shimanovsk
一张有意义的地图
For people who grew up in Shimanovsk or worked on the railway, this map is a direct link to a place far from most big cities. It makes a strong gift for relatives who moved west and still think of the station, the tracks and the forest edge as home.
The title can carry the town's name or a family name, with a date in the subtitle and your own coordinates. There are five styles, including Noir and Blueprint. The $9 digital set includes six print sizes, each as a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF without a watermark.
