Sinzig Map Poster
Sinzig lies on the left bank of the Rhine in Rhineland-Palatinate, where the river Ahr flows out of its narrow wine valley and joins the Rhine. On a map, the two rivers set the scene. The broad Rhine sweeps past to the east, and the Ahr winds in from the west across a flat, wooded floodplain before it meets the main stream.
The historic centre sits on slightly higher ground, a tight oval of old streets around the late Romanesque parish church of St. Peter, whose towers are a familiar sight from the valley. Railway and main road run parallel to the Rhine, while newer districts spread out towards the river meadows and the neighbouring villages that belong to the town.
A Sinzig map poster brings together water, rail and the small medieval core. In black and white, the thread of the Ahr, the wide ribbon of the Rhine and the dense knot of the old town make a composition with a clear sense of place and a long past as a royal residence on the river.
