Sipalay lies on the southwestern coast of Negros Island, in Negros Occidental province. From above, the coastline is irregular, with small bays, points and beaches separated by green hills. The town centre is a small cluster of streets, while the rest of the city spreads out in coastal villages.
The street network is limited, with a main road following the coast and linking the town to neighbouring areas. A Sipalay map poster highlights the shape of the shoreline, where coves and headlands create a more striking outline than the modest street pattern itself.
Sipalay was once known for copper mining, but it is now better known for its beaches and dive sites. Sugar Beach and the resorts around Punta Ballo attract visitors to this quiet stretch of the Negros coast.
