Sir Muttra, also written Sarmathura, is a town in the Dholpur district of eastern Rajasthan, not far from the borders of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. On a map it is a compact settlement with irregular lanes around an older core. A few main roads lead out across a dry, rugged landscape of fields and low hills.
