关于地图
Sterling Map Poster & Print
Sterling is a suburban community in eastern Loudoun County, Virginia, on the western edge of the Washington metropolitan area. From above, curving residential streets contrast with a few major roads, including Route 7 and Route 28. To the south lies Washington Dulles International Airport, whose runways are among the largest shapes on the local map.
Much of Sterling was built in the second half of the twentieth century as the capital region expanded, which explains its looping drives, cul-de-sacs and neighbourhood parks. More recently it has become part of Northern Virginia's data-centre corridor, and large rectangular buildings line its main roads. The Potomac River runs a short distance to the north.
A Sterling map poster shows the particular geometry of American suburbs: loops and curves, rectangles of commerce and industry, and the long straight lines of runways and highways. In black and white these patterns make a surprisingly striking image, and they mean a lot to people who lived here, commuted here or flew in through Dulles.

Route 7 and Route 28
These major roads cross the community, drawing strong lines through the suburban streets and connecting Sterling to Leesburg, Tysons and the wider capital region.
Looping neighbourhoods
Residential areas are made up of winding drives and cul-de-sacs. Their curves form a fine, almost organic pattern that contrasts with the straight roads and runways.
