Tan-Tan Map Poster & Print
Tan-Tan lies in southern Morocco, in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, where the land turns into open Saharan desert. The town sits inland from the Atlantic on a dry plain cut by the beds of seasonal wadis. Its map shows low-rise blocks and straight roads laid out on mostly level ground, with open desert beyond the last houses.
The town is known for the Moussem of Tan-Tan, a yearly gathering of the nomadic peoples of the Sahara, with camel trading, tents, music and horsemanship. UNESCO recognises it as intangible cultural heritage. On a Tan-Tan map poster the orderly town appears as a compact patch of lines surrounded by empty ground, which makes the setting clear at once.
A road runs from the town toward the coast, where the fishing port of Tan-Tan Plage, also known as El Ouatia, faces the ocean. Tan-Tan is on the main route south along Morocco's Atlantic side, and it has long been a stopping point for travellers heading into the Sahara. Wadi beds
Dry riverbeds wind across the plain near the town and fill with water only after rare rains. They add a few organic curves to an otherwise geometric composition.
Road to the coast
A long, straight road leads from the town toward the Atlantic and the port at El Ouatia. It forms a strong line at the edge of a wider view.
