Tashtagol Map Poster & Print
Tashtagol is located in the south of Kemerovo Oblast, in Mountain Shoria, a region of low mountains and dense taiga at the northern edge of the Altai-Sayan ranges. On a map the town lies along the valley of the Kondoma River. Its streets stretch along the valley floor and climb short distances into the hills on either side.
The town grew around iron-ore mining in the twentieth century, and the mine and its industrial sites are still part of the map. Tashtagol is also the gateway to Sheregesh, one of Siberia's best-known ski resorts, located a short drive away in the mountains. The road there is familiar to many winter visitors.
A Tashtagol map poster shows a town tightly shaped by terrain. It includes the river, the railway and road following the valley, blocks of apartment buildings and houses on the flatter ground, and the empty, heavily forested slopes all around. The composition is narrow and linear, with nature pressing in from every side.
