Tata sits in the pre-Saharan south of Morocco, where the Anti-Atlas gives way to open stony plains. From above, the town reads as a tight cluster of streets next to a long band of palm groves that follows the course of a seasonal river. Beyond that thin green line the map goes almost empty, broken only by ridges and dry channels.
The contrast is what makes the place work in black and white. Dense, irregular lanes of older earthen settlements meet the straighter blocks of the modern administrative town, while tracks head out across the desert to outlying villages. Tata is also the capital of its province, so roads from several directions come together here.
A Tata map poster keeps that balance between built fabric and open ground. The oasis shows as fine texture, the riverbed as a soft curve, and the surrounding plains as calm white space.
