Teramo Map Poster & Print
Teramo is in northern Abruzzo, Italy, on a raised piece of land where two rivers, the Tordino and the Vezzola, meet. The historic centre occupies the ridge between the two valleys, so on the map the old town is shaped like a long, narrow wedge, bordered by steep drops and river bends on both sides.
The city has Roman origins as Interamnia, the town between the rivers, and the remains of its Roman theatre and amphitheatre stand near the cathedral in the centre. To the west, the mountains of the Gran Sasso d'Italia can be seen, the highest part of the Apennines. Teramo is also home to a university.
A Teramo map poster clearly shows how geography shaped the city. The dense medieval streets fill the ridge, the two rivers curve around it, and newer districts extend across the valley floors and nearby hills. Bridges connect the parts of the city, and the result is a composition of several sections joined by water.
