Road and rail spine
The highway and the railway run parallel through the town. Together they form the backbone of the map, and most streets branch off them at right angles.

关于地图
Thaton Map Poster & Print
Thaton is in Mon State in southern Myanmar, on the low plain east of the Gulf of Martaban. The town stretches along a north–south axis where the main road and the railway between Yangon and Mawlamyine run side by side. Paddy fields lie to the west, and wooded hills rise close by to the east.
Thaton is one of the oldest names in Mon history. It was the capital of a Mon kingdom that the Bagan king Anawrahta conquered in the eleventh century, and his victory is traditionally credited with bringing Theravada Buddhism and Mon learning to Upper Burma. The sea was once much closer than it is today. Centuries of silt have moved the coastline away from the town.
A Thaton map poster captures that elongated form. A dense core of streets hugs the transport spine, pagoda compounds show up as open enclosures, and the edges thin quickly into fields. It is a small map with a very long history behind it.

Hills to the east
Forested high ground rises close to the eastern edge of town. It limits growth on that side and leaves a strong boundary between streets and blank paper.
Plain towards the gulf
West of the town, flat farmland stretches towards the Gulf of Martaban. On the poster it becomes calm white space that balances the dense centre.

为什么选Thaton
一张有意义的地图
Thaton suits anyone drawn to the early history of mainland Southeast Asia, and anyone whose family comes from Mon State. Its simple, linear plan works particularly well in a minimalist print.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be edited. The five styles range from Classic to Noir and Blueprint. You can download a free 900 px watermarked preview to check the layout before you buy the full HD files.
