Thun Map Poster & Print
Thun sits at the northwestern end of Lake Thun, in the canton of Bern, where the Aare flows out of the lake toward Bern. It is often seen as a gateway to the Bernese Oberland, and on a clear day the Alps rise beyond the water. The map is shaped by the lake, the river and the hill in the middle of town.
The Aare divides into channels as it passes through the old town, creating islands crossed by small bridges and weirs. Above them, Thun Castle stands on its hill, and the Obere Hauptgasse is known for its unusual two-level layout, with walkways built above the shops.
A Thun map poster brings all of this together: the wide lake to the southeast, the braided river through the centre, the tight medieval streets around the castle hill. It is a rich, balanced composition with water, streets and open space in equal measure.
