Port and breakwater
The harbour's quays and protective breakwater make sharp, geometric lines on an otherwise smooth coast, marking the point where most of Madagascar's imports and exports arrive.

关于地图
Toamasina Map Poster & Print
Toamasina, long known by its French name Tamatave, is Madagascar's main seaport. It occupies a low sandy point on the east coast, where the land runs almost level to the Indian Ocean. On a map the city reads as a firm coastline on one side and a network of straight streets filling the flat ground behind it.
The port handles the greater part of the country's international trade, and its piers and breakwater form the most angular shapes along the shore. Offshore, coral reefs shelter parts of the coast. To the south begins the Pangalanes Canal, a long chain of lagoons and cut channels that runs down the east coast parallel to the sea.
The centre was laid out in the colonial period with wide avenues and a regular grid that still shapes the street pattern today. A Toamasina map poster shows that order against the curving beach and the looser growth of newer districts, which spread inland along the main roads leading towards Antananarivo and the north.

Colonial street grid
Behind the waterfront, the older districts follow a regular grid of wide avenues, giving the centre a calm, even texture that stands out clearly on the map.
Start of the Pangalanes
South of the city the lagoons and channels of the Pangalanes Canal begin their long run down the coast, a thin line of water set just behind the shore.

为什么选Toamasina
一张有意义的地图
Toamasina is a city of arrivals and departures, the place where ships, travellers and goods meet the island. For people who live there, or who passed through on the way along the east coast, its map is a precise and understated keepsake.
Personalise the title and subtitle, add a date or the coordinates of a favourite spot, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the port geometry; Sand echoes the beach and the flat coastal land.
