关于地图
Tokuyama Map Poster & Print
Tokuyama, now the central district of Shūnan in Yamaguchi Prefecture, lies on the Seto Inland Sea coast. Its map is split between two worlds: a compact grid of streets around the railway station, and a waterfront given over to large industrial plants, piers and reclaimed land. Wooded hills rise behind the town, and offshore, islands break up the bay.
The city is one of Japan's major petrochemical centres, with refineries and chemical works lining the shore. Out in the bay, the island of Ōtsushima served in the Second World War as a training base for kaiten manned torpedoes, and a memorial museum there records that history for visitors who take the ferry across.
A Tokuyama map poster makes the most of these contrasts. Fine, regular streets sit beside the heavy, blocky outlines of industrial sites, and the coast becomes a sequence of straight quays rather than a natural curve. It is an unusual subject for wall art, and a good one for anyone who likes maps with structure and edge.

Reclaimed industrial shore
Along the bay, reclaimed land carries refineries and chemical plants, drawn as large geometric shapes with straight edges and long piers reaching into the water.
Islands of the bay
Offshore, islands including Ōtsushima sit in Tokuyama Bay, their irregular outlines a natural counterpoint to the engineered coastline.

为什么选Tokuyama
一张有意义的地图
People who have worked in the plants, grew up in Shūnan or passed through on the Shinkansen will recognise this coastline. Its mix of city grid, heavy industry and islands also makes a strong graphic piece for anyone curious about how Japan's industrial ports are laid out.
Change the title, subtitle and coordinates line to add a name or a date, then choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the engineered shoreline well. Files cost $9, and prints come on matte paper.
