Troy Map Poster & Print
Troy, in Oakland County north of Detroit, has one of the most regular outlines of any American city. It follows the square shape of the original survey township, about six miles on each side. Major roads run every mile in both directions, following the Detroit area's famous mile-road system, and they divide the city into a checkerboard of large blocks.
Big Beaver Road, which follows the 16 Mile line, is Troy's main commercial corridor. It is lined with office towers, corporate headquarters and the Somerset Collection, a large upscale shopping centre. Interstate 75 cuts diagonally across the city from southeast to northwest, the only strong line that breaks the grid.
Inside each square mile of a Troy map poster, the pattern changes. Some blocks hold curving residential streets and cul-de-sacs, others office parks, and others schools, parks and golf courses. The result is a tidy frame filled with very varied detail, a clear picture of how postwar suburbs grew.
