The ngõ network
Narrow alleys branch off the main streets and subdivide again into smaller lanes. They create the ward's characteristic dense, finely detailed pattern on the map.

关于地图
Tương Mai Map Poster & Print
Tương Mai is an urban ward in Hoàng Mai district, in the southern part of Hanoi. From above, it shows the classic texture of the capital's inner neighbourhoods. A few larger roads form the frame, and between them runs an intricate network of narrow lanes and alleys, the ngõ, which lead to tall, narrow houses packed closely side by side. There are almost no empty spaces in the grid.
Like much of southern Hanoi, the area was once village and farmland on the edge of the city and was absorbed into the capital as it grew. Its streets still carry traces of that past in their irregular, branching lanes, which contrast with the straighter main roads built later to carry traffic in and out of the centre.
A Tương Mai map poster is a portrait of density. Main roads divide the frame into large blocks, and inside them countless small alleys branch and dead-end in a fine, intricate pattern. In monochrome it reads almost like a textile, rich in detail up close and balanced from a distance. For anyone who has lived in these lanes, it is instantly recognisable.

Framing main roads
A handful of wide, busy roads bound and cross the ward. They are the strongest lines in the composition and hold the maze of alleys in place.
Village-era traces
Irregular lane shapes and small open spaces hint at the villages that stood here before the city absorbed them. They are subtle features that reward a closer look.

为什么选Tương Mai
一张有意义的地图
Tương Mai is the kind of neighbourhood people know alley by alley. A map of its lanes suits anyone who grew up here, rented a first flat here or simply knows its streets by heart.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with an alley number, a family name or a date, and choose from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir brings out the fine lane texture.
