Utrera Map Poster
Utrera is in the province of Seville, on the flat, fertile countryside southeast of the capital. On a map, the older centre is a dense tangle of narrow lanes around the remains of a Moorish-era castle and several large churches. Newer districts form wider, more regular blocks around it.
The town has an important place in the history of flamenco. It is especially associated with the singers Fernanda and Bernarda de Utrera, and it hosts one of the oldest flamenco festivals in Andalusia. It is also known for its mostachones, a simple local sweet sold across the region.
