Residential grid
The centre of Villanova is a regular pattern of blocks and cross streets, denser than the countryside around it. It reads clearly as a town planned for everyday life.

关于地图
Villanova Map Poster & Print
Villanova is part of Guidonia Montecelio, on the open plain east of Rome where the land starts to rise toward Tivoli and the hills beyond. From above it is a clearly residential place: blocks of apartment buildings and houses set in a loose grid, with regular gaps for schools, sports grounds and small gardens. The street network is fairly orderly compared with the older hill towns in view on the horizon.
The wider area is known for travertine, the pale limestone quarried around Tivoli since Roman times and used in many of Rome's buildings. On a map, the quarry basins nearby show up as large, sharp-edged voids with almost no streets. Next to them are the roads leading toward Rome and the fields that still separate one settlement from another on this part of the plain.
A Villanova map poster shows a town that is ordinary in the best sense. It is a place to live on the edge of Rome's orbit, shaped by the old consular road, the quarries and the slopes of the Monti Tiburtini. The composition balances the tight grid of homes against the empty shapes of the land around it.

Travertine landscape
The Tivoli area has quarried travertine for centuries. The large excavated basins create stark open areas on the map, outlined only by their edges and access roads.
Road toward Rome
Main routes run west toward the capital and east toward Tivoli. Their long lines give the print a firm direction and place the town between the city and the hills.

为什么选Villanova
一张有意义的地图
Villanova is on the map for people who live just outside Rome and commute across the plain every day. A print of its streets marks a real neighbourhood, a first flat or a childhood home, instead of the postcard city a few kilometres away.
Add a title, a personal subtitle and the coordinates, then pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand and Paper go well with the warm stone colours of this part of Lazio.
