关于地图
Yuktae-dong Map Poster & Print
Yuktae-dong is a settlement in South Hamgyong Province, on the eastern side of North Korea. The region is dominated by mountains that run down toward the Sea of Japan, with narrow valleys and small coastal plains where most towns and farms are found. Because detailed information about the place is limited, the map itself is the best guide to its form.
In this kind of terrain, settlement tends to follow the valleys, and roads and rail lines keep to the lower ground wherever possible. On the map, the built-up area appears as a pattern of streets and blocks set in a landscape of hills, rivers and fields. The mapped detail may be sparser than in many other places, which gives the image a distinctly spare look.
A Yuktae-dong map poster is an unusual, restrained object. It shows a place few people ever see, reduced to lines and space. In Noir or Classic black & white, the sparse street pattern becomes almost abstract. For those with a personal or family connection to the area, it can carry real weight.

Valley routes
Roads follow the lower land between hills, forming the main lines connecting Yuktae-dong to nearby places in the province.
Sparse detail
Mapping of the area is less detailed than in many regions, so the poster has a spare, minimal quality with open space around the streets.
