Zekeriya Map Poster & Print
Zekeriya, usually known as Zekeriyaköy, lies in the Sarıyer district at the northern edge of Istanbul, well away from the dense core of the city. From above it looks very different from most of Istanbul. Instead of tightly packed blocks, it has winding roads, detached houses in large gardens, and wide patches of woodland, all on gently rolling ground.
The area grew from a small village into one of the city's best-known residential enclaves, popular with families who want space and greenery within reach of the business districts. Belgrade Forest, a large woodland that once supplied the city with water, lies nearby, and the Black Sea coast is a short drive north.
A Zekeriya map poster shows a gentler side of Istanbul. The lines are sparse and flowing, following the slopes and valleys, and open space shapes the composition as much as the streets do. Large areas of woodland surround the settlement and stretch toward Belgrade Forest. On the map these open areas give the linework room to breathe.
The old village core
The original village centre remains a slightly denser knot of streets. It is the natural focal point of the composition, with newer neighbourhoods spreading out from it.
