Abington Map Poster & Print
Abington is a town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, on the South Shore south of Boston. It was once an important centre for shoemaking. It is also remembered for Island Grove Park, where abolitionists held large anti-slavery gatherings in the nineteenth century and where a memorial arch still stands.
On a map, the town shows the layered pattern of an old New England community. Winding colonial-era roads meet at the historic centre, later residential streets fill the land between them, and a commuter rail line crosses the town in a straight line toward Boston. Ponds and wooded areas break up the street network.
An Abington map poster captures a town that has kept its old outline while growing into a Boston suburb. The mix of irregular old roads and orderly newer streets gives the design depth, and the park and pond add open shapes to the composition.
