Boshrūyeh is a small town in the north of South Khorasan Province, at the edge of the arid interior of eastern Iran. From above it is a compact settlement of streets and walled plots, with areas of garden and cultivation close around it, and then open desert and mountains stretching away in several directions.
Like many towns in this part of Iran, Boshrūyeh depends on carefully managed water, and the green areas around the town stand out clearly against the pale, dry land. Roads leave the town across the plains toward neighbouring settlements and the wider province.
