Cambridge Map Poster & Print
Cambridge, in southern Ontario, was formed in 1973 by combining the towns of Galt, Preston and Hespeler along with surrounding land. On a map, the three older centres are still easy to pick out, each with its own compact street pattern, linked by newer suburbs and main roads.
The Grand River flows through the city from north to south, and the Speed River joins it near Preston. Galt's downtown sits on the banks of the Grand, known for its nineteenth-century stone buildings, while Hespeler grew around mills to the north. Highway 401 runs along the northern edge.
A Cambridge map poster shows how rivers shaped a city: the winding Grand dividing east from west, the smaller Speed joining from the side and the three historic cores placed along the water. It is a layered, readable map of a place built from several towns.
