Cazenga is one of the municipalities of Luanda, the capital of Angola, and lies inland from the bay and the older city centre. It is one of the most densely populated parts of the capital region, and on a map it appears as an almost continuous surface of small blocks and narrow streets.
Some parts of the municipality follow planned, regular layouts. Others grew more informally, with lanes branching and turning between compact plots. Several main roads cut through the area and link it to the rest of Luanda, and they form the clearest lines in an otherwise fine-grained pattern.
Cazenga is mainly residential, home to a large share of the city's population, with markets and local commerce along its main streets.
