Dakoro Map Poster & Print
Dakoro is the main town of a department in the Maradi Region of southern Niger, in the Sahel, where farmland gives way to pastoral rangeland further north. On the map it appears as a spread of low compounds and sandy lanes on flat ground. A few main roads cross it, and the settlement fades out into open terrain.
The town is a market and meeting point for farmers and herders from a wide area, and its layout reflects that role, with roads and tracks converging on the centre from several directions. Beyond the edge of town the map is almost empty. There are scattered villages and rural routes, but no dense street networks.
A Dakoro map poster turns that sparseness into a strength. The compact mesh of compounds, the converging tracks and the wide, blank surroundings create a strong sense of space. It shows a place defined by distance and trade, and it holds particular meaning for people who know the region and its markets.

Compound blocks
The residential areas are made up of family compounds. On the poster they appear as a fine, irregular mesh of blocks and lanes spread across flat ground.
Open Sahel
Around the town the land opens into wide plains with few built features. This leaves generous empty space that gives the composition a calm, spacious feel.
