Florești is a district centre in northern Moldova, on the Răut River. On the map, the river curves through the town in wide bends and splits it into sections, each with its own knot of streets. Beyond the edges, the land rises into gentle slopes covered in fields, which are typical of the rolling Moldovan uplands.
The town is a local hub for road and rail. The railway runs in a long, deliberate line, and main roads connect Florești with the rest of the north. Nearer the centre, the streets form a mix of regular blocks and older lanes that follow the valley. Private houses with gardens dominate the outer areas.
