Guskhara, also written Guskara, is a town in Purba Bardhaman district of West Bengal, in the fertile rice-growing plain west of the Hooghly. The railway between Bardhaman and Bolpur passes through the town, and much of Guskhara's shape follows that line and the station at its centre.
From above, the town is a close cluster of lanes and small blocks tightening around the railway and the main road. Water tanks and ponds, typical of rural Bengal, dot the built area and the land around it. Past the last houses, flat paddy fields spread out in a fine pattern of plots and embankments.
