Isaka lies in the Shinyanga region of northern Tanzania, on the Central Line railway that runs inland from Dar es Salaam. The town is known for its dry port, an inland container terminal where cargo moves between rail and road for trade toward Rwanda, Burundi and the Lake Victoria region. Isaka exists to move goods, and the map shows it.
The rail line is the backbone of the plan, a long straight stroke with sidings and yard tracks widening beside the terminal. Roads lead away toward Kahama and the lake, and the town fills the ground around the railway in a loose pattern of blocks and lanes. Beyond that, farmland and scattered homesteads spread across a broad, gently rolling plain.
