Kotputli lies in northeastern Rajasthan, on the national highway between Delhi and Jaipur, somewhat closer to Jaipur. On a map, that highway is the town's defining line: a broad road running northeast to southwest, with the older settlement and its market streets set just beside it. Low rocky hills of the Aravalli range rise nearby, giving the surroundings an uneven texture.
The older core is dense and irregular, with lanes branching off in several directions, while newer neighbourhoods and commercial buildings have grown along the highway and the roads that connect to it.
