Masi-Manimba is a town in Kwilu province in the southwest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It stands on the road that links Kinshasa with Kikwit, the main route across this part of the country. From above, the town stretches along that road, with streets and paths branching away into the surrounding savanna and farmland.
The landscape here alternates between open grassy plateaus and wooded valleys that cut down toward rivers of the Kasai basin. Farming is the main activity, and the town serves as a local centre for the villages around it, its market and roads connecting a wide rural area to the highway.
