Masis Map Poster & Print
Masis sits on the Ararat plain in Armenia, a short distance south of Yerevan. The town takes its name from Masis, the Armenian name for Mount Ararat, which rises across the border and dominates the view on clear days. The mountain lies outside the map's frame, but the plain it overlooks shapes everything within it.
The ground here is flat and intensively farmed, crossed by irrigation channels and long, straight roads. Masis is also an important rail junction. Railway lines pass through the town and give the map strong, long strokes. The residential streets are mostly regular, with blocks of Soviet-era housing next to lower houses and gardens.
A Masis map poster captures a town built for the plain: straight lines, clear divisions and networks of water and rail. It is a restrained, structured image. The name on the poster brings the mountain into the room even though it cannot be drawn.

ለምን Masis
ትርጉም ያለው ካርታ
For Armenians at home and abroad, the name Masis carries a meaning that goes beyond the town itself. The map is a way to keep both the place and the mountain it is named after close by.
