Mtinko is a rural area in the Singida Region of central Tanzania, on the high, dry plateau in the centre of the country. On the map, it does not look like a dense town. Homesteads are scattered across the land, linked by dirt roads and a network of footpaths, with fields and patches of bush between them.
The central plateau is a region of wide horizons, seasonal rains and farming adapted to a long dry season. Tracks lead from Mtinko towards Singida town and neighbouring villages.
