Market centre
The small trading centre is where several roads come together. It is the closest thing the map has to a focal point in otherwise open country.

Mwala Map Poster & Print
Mwala lies in the eastern part of Machakos County, in the semi-arid country southeast of Nairobi. It has no single dense core. The map is made of a small market centre and a wide web of farm tracks, homesteads and minor roads spread over rolling ground. The overall impression is of land that is lived on everywhere but built up almost nowhere.
The population here is spread across a large area rather than packed into a town. Small farms, dry-season riverbeds and low ridges set the pattern. Seasonal streams leave faint, branching lines that run between the roads. When the scale is set right, these watercourses can be as noticeable as the routes people travel on.
A Mwala map poster turns this dispersed landscape into something close to a drawing. It shows fine lines, open spaces and a few points where roads meet at the market centre. It suits people who come from the area or have family there, because it shows the place as they know it: wide, quiet and connected by paths rather than avenues.

Seasonal watercourses
Dry riverbeds and streams that fill only in the rains leave thin, branching traces. They give the map an organic structure alongside the roads.
Web of farm tracks
Minor roads and footpaths link homesteads across the rolling uplands. From above they form a loose, irregular net.

ለምን Mwala
ትርጉም ያለው ካርታ
Many people with roots in Machakos live far from home, in Nairobi or abroad. A map of Mwala keeps the shape of that home ground on the wall, simply and without sentiment, as a reminder of where a family's land and story begin.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be personalised, for example with a family name, a homestead or a year. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
