Pataudi is a town in Gurugram district, Haryana, southwest of Delhi. It was once the capital of a small princely state, and the Pataudi family is known across India, in particular through cricket: Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi and his son Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi both captained India. The Pataudi Palace, set in grounds on the edge of town, remains its most famous landmark.
From above, the town has a dense, irregular core of lanes and markets, with newer roads extending towards the surrounding villages and the growing edge of Gurugram. The land around it is flat and agricultural, divided into fields and crossed by roads and canals.
