Quţūr is a town in Gharbia governorate in Egypt, in the central Nile Delta between Tanta and the northern delta cities. The land here is completely flat and intensively cultivated. Irrigation canals and field boundaries cover almost the entire map, and villages lie scattered across it at short intervals.
The town itself is a dense cluster of streets. In the older parts they are narrow and irregular, and they become more regular towards the newer edges. Roads and canals leave town in several directions, often running side by side, and the fields between them form a fine, geometric texture. The overall effect is a compact settlement in a carefully divided landscape.
