Ruidian Map Poster & Print
Ruidian lies in the mountains of far western Yunnan, close to China's border with Myanmar. This is steep, heavily forested terrain, cut by deep valleys and rivers flowing south. On a map, the settlement sits where the land allows, on a valley floor or gentler slope, with roads following the contours rather than any grid.
The region is known for its high mountains, rich forests and a mix of ethnic communities, and small towns like Ruidian serve as local centres for farming villages scattered across the slopes. Roads here are few and hard-won, and they appear on the map as long, looping lines tracing the valleys.
A Ruidian map poster captures a place shaped almost entirely by its terrain. The built area is compact, the roads curve and switch back across the hillsides, and waterways run through the valleys. In monochrome, it becomes a study in how settlement adapts to mountains, a quiet and unusual image of a remote corner of China.
