Shwe Lin Ban is in Hlaingthaya Township on the western outskirts of Yangon, across the Hlaing River from the older city. It is best known for its industrial zone, where many of Yangon's garment and manufacturing factories are located. Workers' housing has grown up around it.
The map reflects this function very directly. Large rectangular plots sit along straight roads laid out for trucks, not pedestrians. Around the industrial blocks, denser residential streets fill the gaps, and low-lying, watery land in the delta landscape still appears in between.
