Taió Map Poster & Print
Taió lies in the Alto Vale do Itajaí, the upper valley of the Itajaí river system in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. The town grew along the Itajaí do Oeste river, and from above its streets curve with the water and the surrounding hills instead of following a strict grid. Farmland and forested slopes surround the urban area on all sides.
Like many towns in this part of Santa Catarina, Taió was settled largely by European immigrant families, and the region's small farms, churches and tidy houses reflect that heritage. On a Taió map poster, the winding river, the bridges that cross it and the long roads following the valley give the design movement and a natural balance.
The Itajaí valley is known for heavy rains and a history of flooding, and the relationship between river and town shapes daily life here. The map shows that relationship clearly: the settled area pressing close to the water, the roads along the valley and the steeper, emptier ground rising on either side of the town.

Valley roads
Roads leave the town along the valley floor and up side valleys, drawing thin lines between wooded slopes and connecting outlying rural communities.
Hillside farmland
Beyond the urban edge, small farms and patches of forest cover the rolling hills, leaving the town as a compact shape within a broad natural setting.
