Tezoyuca is a municipality in the State of Mexico, northeast of Mexico City, near Texcoco. It lies on the flat plain that once bordered Lake Texcoco, with the hills of the valley rising in the distance. On the map, the town is an irregular mix of old village streets and newer residential areas.
The region has changed rapidly as the metropolitan area has grown outward. Around Tezoyuca, farmland, housing developments and main roads meet. The route toward the archaeological zone of Teotihuacan passes through this part of the valley, and the area has long been a crossroads between the capital and the north.
