Tougué is the seat of a prefecture in the Labé Region of Guinea, located on the Fouta Djallon plateau. This upland area is known for its tablelands and river valleys, and several of West Africa's major rivers have their sources in the wider Fouta Djallon highlands.
The town itself is small. From above, it forms a modest cluster of streets and compounds around a centre, with roads leading out towards surrounding villages and the regional capital. Streams and valleys cut across the land around it, shaping where routes can run.
