Vĩnh Tuy is a riverside neighbourhood in south-eastern Hanoi, and its map is very dense. Narrow lanes branch off a few main roads into tightly packed housing, forming the fine, branching street pattern typical of the city. To the east, the dyke and the Red River set a firm edge to all of it.
The most striking feature is the Vĩnh Tuy Bridge. Its long, straight deck crosses the wide river and its sandbanks towards Long Biên on the far bank. On the map, the bridge and its approach roads make a strong diagonal across the soft, braided shapes of the river channel.
