Bielawa Map Poster & Print
Bielawa lies in Lower Silesia, at the northern foot of the Owl Mountains. Its shape on a map is unusual: rather than a round centre, the town stretches along a valley for several kilometres, following a stream down from the hills, with houses and streets strung along one long main road.
The town developed as a textile centre, and former mills and workers' housing still mark parts of the valley. To the south, the land rises into forested slopes of the Owl Mountains, and the upper end of town gives way to woodland and hiking trails, while the lower end opens onto farmland.
