Fordon Map Poster & Print
Fordon was a small town on the left bank of the Vistula until 1973, when it became part of Bydgoszcz. It is now the city's largest district. From above, it has two clear parts: the historic core of old Fordon near the river, and extensive housing estates built from the 1970s onward on the higher ground above the valley.
The Vistula valley gives the map its drama. The river runs broad and slightly curving along the district's northern side. The terrain steps down steeply from the estates to the floodplain, and the edge of that escarpment can be read from where the streets stop. Across the river rises the long Fordon Bridge, one of the longest bridges in Poland, which makes a striking straight line over the water.
