Greven Map Poster & Print
Greven lies in the Münsterland region of North Rhine-Westphalia, a short distance north of Münster. The town centre sits beside the Ems, which winds through meadows past the old centre, while the Dortmund-Ems Canal passes nearby in a much straighter line. Beyond the built area, fields, farmsteads and small woods make up the scattered landscape typical of the region.
Greven grew as a textile town, and spinning and weaving shaped its economy through much of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Today it is also known as the home of Münster Osnabrück International Airport, which lies within the municipality north-east of the town. The airport's runway and aprons form one of the most striking geometric shapes on any map of the area.
