Kalisizo Map Poster & Print
Kalisizo sits in the green, rolling country of southern Uganda, on the main road that runs from Masaka toward the Tanzanian border. On a map the road gives the town its shape. A line of plots and short side streets forms a spine, and the built-up area soon thins into scattered homesteads, gardens and banana plantations along the surrounding slopes.
Around the centre the land rises and falls in low hills. The paths and murram roads follow the contours rather than a grid, so the outskirts look loose and organic when drawn in black and white. Low ground between the hills is left mostly free of streets, and these open spaces make clear gaps in the network of lines.
Kalisizo serves the farming communities around it, with a hospital, schools and a market that draw people in from the countryside.
