Laukaa Map Poster & Print
Laukaa lies in Central Finland, just north of Jyväskylä, in the heart of the Finnish lakeland. The map is dominated by water: long, branching lakes, narrow sounds and countless bays and islands, with forest covering most of the land in between. The main village sits by the water, and roads run along ridges and across straits to reach smaller villages around the municipality.
One of those villages, Vihtavuori, is known for its long-running explosives and propellant factory, a name familiar far beyond Finland. Elsewhere, Laukaa is a place of summer cottages, lakeshore houses and quiet roads, and its closeness to Jyväskylä makes it a home for many who commute into the city.
