Přerov Map Poster & Print
Přerov sits on the Bečva river in central Moravia, in the fertile Haná lowland southeast of Olomouc. The historic core occupies a raised site above the river, around the upper square known as Horní náměstí and the castle. From above, this small elevated centre is surrounded by a much larger town that expanded across the plain during the industrial era.
The Bečva crosses the town from east to west, bordered by embankments and green strips, and its channel and side streams form some of the most graceful curves on the map. Přerov is also one of the most important railway junctions in the Czech Republic, and the tracks fanning out around the station create a bold pattern on a Přerov map poster.
The castle houses a museum devoted in part to John Amos Comenius, who studied and taught at the town's school of the Unity of the Brethren early in his career. Přerov is also home to the optics manufacturer Meopta, a long-standing part of its industrial identity, and its works and housing estates are clearly visible in the modern layout.
