Verbania Map Poster & Print
Verbania was formed in 1939 by joining the towns of Intra and Pallanza on the western shore of Lake Maggiore. The map still shows two centres: Intra with its denser streets near river mouths, and Pallanza facing the water further south, linked by a shoreline road around a wooded headland.
That headland, the Castagnola promontory, holds the gardens of Villa Taranto, known for their botanical collections. Behind the town the land rises quickly into the hills and mountains of the Verbano, so the street pattern is squeezed into a narrow band along the lake, with roads switching back up the slopes.
A Verbania map poster is dominated by water. The lake occupies much of the frame and the town follows its edge in a long, irregular line, with small streams cutting down to the shore. The Borromean Islands lie offshore to the south, part of the same stretch of lake.
